Teresa Charities was founded in 2002 and incorporated in 2004. It is the work of many people, but principally the work of the founder, Deacon An Vu.
Deacon Vu had the vision of a very simple organization with a single goal: feed the hungry; relieve the suffering. The charity has started small, with operations in only one country. It was logical to start with the country where contacts could be fostered through the many connections in the community of expatriate Vietnamese here in the U.S.
Many of those working for Teresa Charities are Catholic, and we have drawn the name Teresa from St. Thérèse of Lisieux, a source of our inspiration.
